Rock slope engineering: from measurement to calculation, from calculation to specification and bill of quantities. Laser scanning, discontinuity and kinematic analysis, stability analysis, system selection and dimensioning; installation supervision on request.
What we do
Choosing the right slope protection system depends on measurement; dimensioning it correctly depends on calculation. The services on this page are independent of system sales: measurement and a report alone can be ordered, and the installation may not be given to us at the end of the design. The outputs are prepared to go straight into the file of the owner and the supervising engineer.
Service items
| Item | What is done | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 3D data capture | Terrestrial and airborne laser scanning, aerial photography, photogrammetry | Point cloud, surface model, orthophoto |
| Mapping | Topographic and engineering geology maps, cross-sections | Scaled sheets, set of sections |
| Geological and structural work | Separation of units, discontinuity measurement (orientation, spacing, persistence, roughness, infill) | Discontinuity set table, stereonet |
| Kinematic analysis | Planar and wedge sliding, toppling; relative to the slope orientation | Kinematic feasibility report |
| Rockfall analysis | Source area, block size distribution, trajectory and energy line, bounce height | Energy and height distribution, barrier position |
| Stability analysis | Definition of the slope instability, design section, factor of safety | Calculation report |
| Laboratory and field tests | Schmidt hammer, uniaxial and triaxial compression, index tests, thin section | Strength parameters |
| Dimensioning | Barrier class and height, anchored mesh and anchor pattern, drapery, shotcrete thickness | System selection and sizing calculation |
| Specification and bill of quantities | Performance-based specification, measurable acceptance criteria, quantities | Text ready for the tender file |
| Installation supervision | On request, supervision of the installation and acceptance report | Acceptance record, tag entry |
The work follows internationally accepted methods and the standards referred to; which method was used and why it was chosen is written in the report. Some of our calculation tools are open to everyone: energy class estimate (Turkish), trajectory pre-analysis (Turkish).
How it starts
For a site survey, report the location and the subject through the contact page; what we measure on site is listed there. Sharing any existing plans, boreholes and old reports shortens the work; if there are none, we propose the measurement programme.
