Panels of high-tensile steel rings interlocked with four or six neighbours, made to size in our own factory. Their high elongation suits energy-absorbing curtains and barrier panels; they are not the right product for anchored active stabilization.
What it does
A ring net is a panel of individual steel rings interlocked with each other. On impact the rings deform and slide against one another, so the panel absorbs energy over a long stroke; its elongation is higher than that of woven mesh or of a rope net. That makes it good in two places: as an energy-absorbing curtain on a rock face, where a falling block is slowed under the net and collected in a controlled way at the toe, and as the net panel of a flexible barrier, between the support ropes and the brake elements.
The same high elongation means it is not the product for an anchored active system, where the mesh is tensioned to hold the slope itself. That work needs high-tensile woven mesh or a spiral rope net.
Made by us
Ring nets are our own manufacture: we make the panels to size in our own factory and deliver them with batch records for material and coating. In certified flexible barrier systems the net comes with the system; which of the two is supplied is stated in the quotation.
Build
| Part | Description |
|---|---|
| Ring | Formed by winding high-tensile steel wire; the wire end is tucked into the ring or fixed with steel or aluminium-alloy clips |
| Interlocking | Each ring is interlocked with four or six neighbours; six-contact panels are denser and stiffer, four-contact panels more flexible |
| Liner | A smaller-aperture mesh (hexagonal double-twist or woven) is laid under the panel to retain small stones |
| Edge | Panel edges are connected to the support and edge ropes with shackles or clamps |
| Coating | Wire and rope coating to EN 10244-2 (zinc or zinc-aluminium); posts, plates and fittings hot-dip galvanized to EN ISO 1461 |
Ring diameter, number of windings and wire diameter are selected for the required energy and aperture; wire properties are documented to EN 10218-2. A common configuration in our specification text is a 350 mm ring with 7 windings of 3 mm wire (7/3/350), a bundle diameter of 9–10 mm and a ring weight of 420–450 g, with a wire tensile strength of at least 1,570 N/mm² for four-contact panels or 1,380 N/mm² for six-contact panels. The figures for your project are written in the order file and the batch record.
Where it is used
- Drapery curtain on a rock face: top support rope and anchors, liner mesh under the panel, blocks collected at the toe.
- Net panel in a flexible barrier, together with the brake elements.
- Mine shaft and tunnel portal protection: high-energy drapery.
- Debris flow barriers: panels made to the measured geometry.
Specification and acceptance
A copy-ready specification text (in Turkish) is published on the main site. At acceptance, ring diameter and winding count are checked against the batch record, coating weight against the test report, and panel dimensions and edge connections on site; the result is written into the tag of the line.
