GREENAX® steel-mesh erosion control mat
GREENAX is DELTAX mesh of 2 mm high-tensile (1,770 N/mm²) steel wire combined at the factory with a three-dimensional polypropylene erosion control mat: a 3.90 × 30 m roll covers 117 m² and weighs 123 kg. Surface drapery and erosion control are installed in one step; the seed takes hold through the mat.
What it does
On a bare slope two problems come together: stones and small blocks breaking off the surface, and fine material washed away by rain. GREENAX answers both in one product: the high-tensile DELTAX steel mesh drapes the surface, the three-dimensional polypropylene mat woven into the mesh at the factory holds soil and seed, and vegetation takes hold through this mat. Because the two products are laid in one operation, installation time and material waste are reduced.
GREENAX is a drapery system: it holds broken-off material under the mesh and guides it to the toe; it does not prevent the breakout. If anchored stabilization is also needed, the steel-mesh TECCO GREEN is chosen; on a slope with only an erosion problem, a solution without mesh and hydroseeding are enough. According to the manufacturer's salt spray test, the steel in the mesh is 2 – 3 times more resistant to corrosion than standard hexagonal mesh; the tensile strength of the wire per mm² is three times higher. In the sun the curry-green mat stays cooler than conventional black mats; because both sides are three-dimensional, it is permeable to hydroseeding. Seeding can be done before or after installation.
Where
Soil and weathered rock slopes, dam and road cuts, cliff edges: where the surface is to be greened again and small stones also fall. The thin wire and the green mat do not stand out on the surface from a distance; that is why it is preferred on slopes within settlements. If the mesh alone is enough, DELTAX; if anchored stabilization is needed, TECCO GREEN; the decision is made by the block size measured during the survey and the condition of the slope.
Installation and acceptance
Top edge rope and its anchors, unrolling the roll from top to bottom, connecting the roll joints without overlap, bottom edge rope and intermediate anchors if needed; then hydroseeding. At acceptance, edge rope tension, anchor heads, roll joints and the seating of the mat on the surface are checked; the result is entered on the line's tag.
