QUAROX is a rope net on rolls in which strands made of 3 mm high-tensile wires are woven into a chain-link structure without cross clips: a 3.9 × 30 m roll covers 117 m², knotted edges, joints without overlap. For drapery and block retention on steep rock faces.
What it does
A rope net is used for drapery and block retention on steep and blocky rock faces where wire mesh is not enough. Conventional rope nets are made with cross clips or binding wire; the clip points can open on impact, and the clips rust first because of contact between different metals. In QUAROX the rope is formed by weaving strands of 3 mm high-tensile wires into a chain-link structure; there are no clips, and the load spreads along the net. The product is Geobrugg AG's; Artusa has been Geobrugg's representative in Türkiye since 2009.
Data
| Property | QUAROX (manufacturer's product information) |
|---|---|
| Wire | High-tensile steel, ≥ 1,770 N/mm²; strands of 3 mm wires |
| Structure | Chain-linked rope strands; no cross clips or binding wire |
| Roll | 3.9 × 30 m = 117 m²; fewer joints than conventional 3 × 5 m rope net panels |
| Edge | Knotted ends; panels are connected without overlap; shortened by unwinding one spiral, and the leftover piece is reused |
| Corrosion protection | GEOBRUGG SUPERCOATING; the 3 mm wire carries a thick coating layer |
| Secondary mesh | If required, a secondary mesh of the same size (QUAROX plus) for small stones; tied to the net on site |
Installation
Installed with the usual support and edge ropes and clips; in some cases the manufacturer recommends flexible spiral rope anchors, with the length given for the project. The roll is unrolled from the top; a wide roll means fewer intermediate connections for the same area and a nail pattern optimized for the geology. At acceptance, edge rope tension, anchor heads and panel joints are checked; the result is entered on the tag.
Selection
| Surface | Mesh |
|---|---|
| Soil, weathered rock, finely jointed rock | TECCO or DELTAX |
| Steep rock, medium to large blocks, puncture resistance requiring a rope net | QUAROX |
| Overhanging mass, rock outcrop, single block | SPIDER |
The decision is made by the block size distribution and discontinuity geometry measured during the survey.
