What is Cellular Confinement System?

Cellular Confinement System (CCS) is one of the technological building materials we encounter frequently today. It is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material with special additives. Geocells are plastic strips, welded into a honeycomb shape.

They are known as Cellular Confinement System, since the geocell's geometry confines infill and prevents its motion.

Soil retaining cellular confinement system, with its different names, is a Geocell (or geoweb) honeycomb-shaped, erosion control, soil reinforcement, and soil improvement material consisting of three-dimensional cells. Geocell is also called three-dimensional geogrid.

The perforated HDS Cellular filling material provides a natural drainage structure encouraging vegetation. This prevents the infill material from being washed by wind and water run-off.

Geocells are widely used for soil stabilization, erosion control, tree root protection, flood defense, load platforms, and retaining walls. It offers fast, economical, and durable solutions for soil reinforcement (stabilization) in weak soils and erosion control in slopes (slopes), coastal protection systems, canals/embankments (hydraulic structures).
